Binoculars

Choosing the best birding binocular is based on individual preference. There are plenty of features available in a binoculars like magnification, prism design type, field of view etc.

Binoculars tend to be the utmost important accessory for individuals doing bird watching. How to determine which are the best pair of binoculars suitable for us to buy ?
Binoculars come with different levels of magnification & object of lens for example 7X37, 8X40, 10X50 etc. The first number indicates the number of times the image is going to be magnified & the second number is the diameter of the objective lens in millimeters.

As the magnification increases the field of view decreases allowing a very closer look to the subject but not the whole subject. It is important to have a wider field of view in order to identify the birds.

Ideal for use:

I personally recommend 8X40 magnification as it has a wider field of view, its handy & light weight as compared to10X50. It brings the bird closer so one can easily see it & observe its plumage patterns. Good optics may not be pocket friendly so the choice of brand is very individual.
Binoculars tend to be a long term investment so its important to try them out before you buy. Avoid the binoculars that zoom or has focus on each eye piece as that would be causing hindrances in bird watching.

Prism Type:

Porro

Porro Prism binocularsRoof Prism binoculars
Big & bulkySlim & stream-lined
HeavyLightweight
External focus: o-ring seals' degrade & allow dirt & water to penetrate interiorInternal focus - easier to waterproof & seal
Wider field of viewPrisms overlap closely, smaller field of view
Wider offset lenses provide greater depth perceptionStraight inline barrels decrease depth perception
More light gathering capacity = brighterCan be as bright as porro with proper lens coating (PC phase corrected coating) = $$
2 offset prisms mounted separately - more susceptible to alignment problems if dropped - weaker design2 separate prisms cemented together as a single interior mount - stronger, more durable design
You can get a better quality binocular for less $$Costs more for comparable porro quality
